19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Cervara.
Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is his maiden championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since that period of that year.
Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in that event earlier this year.
His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.
But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.
He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.
The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to force a decider.
Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
